In April 2025, a remarkable student achieved more than just financial support for her education — Elisa Cintron experienced a powerful affirmation of her story, her culture, and her future. As the daughter of a dedicated Goya employee, receiving the Goya Employee Scholarship felt deeply personal, meaningful, and symbolic of the values her family has long embraced.
As a student at Montclair State University, the scholarship helped ease financial stress and allowed Elisa to fully focus on her studies. But beyond tuition assistance, the recognition itself carried lasting impact. It affirmed that her hard work, perseverance, and voice mattered — a reminder that her journey was seen and supported by a company that has always felt like home.
Elisa’s educational path has not been without challenges. Navigating personal loss and the uncertainty brought on by the pandemic forced her to adapt and reimagine her goals. Those experiences ultimately led her toward a path rooted in purpose and storytelling. Today, Elisa is pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations and Social Media, with a minor in Political Communication. After graduation, she hopes to continue building a career in communications where she can tell meaningful stories and uplift communities.
Elisa’s dream is to work in public relations and digital media, eventually launching her own creative or social media agency. She envisions helping brands, organizations, and small businesses share authentic stories that reflect their unique identities and values.
As a first-generation college student, higher education represents opportunity, legacy, and hope. Earning a degree honors her family’s sacrifices while opening doors for future generations to dream even bigger.
Elisa’s connection to Goya runs deep. She grew up surrounded by Goya products in her family’s kitchen, especially through her grandparents’ cooking. Family meals, traditions, and shared moments were often centered around food — with Goya always present. Receiving a scholarship from a brand so woven into her upbringing felt truly full circle.
“This scholarship meant more than financial assistance,” Elisa shared. “It was a reminder that my story, culture, and aspirations are worth investing in.” Her gratitude reflects Goya’s continued commitment to empowering students, strengthening families, and building brighter futures through education and opportunity.
Through Goya’s Employee Scholarship Fund, Goya grants (4) students with a $20,000 scholarship who are the sons and/or daughters of Goya employees.
