Carrying Solidarity Across Borders: Launching the Antorcha Guadalupana from Mexico to New York

Culture & Traditions

During our visit to Mexico, Goya Gives had the honor of taking part in a deeply symbolic and meaningful moment: the official launch of the Antorcha Guadalupana México–New York, which began at the Basílica de Guadalupe in Mexico City and will conclude in New York City on December 12th, the Day of Our Lady of Guadalupe.

This international relay run will cross nine Mexican states and fourteen U.S. states, uniting communities across borders with a powerful purpose: to preserve and promote solidarity with migrants around the world. Each step of the journey represents faith, perseverance, and the shared humanity that connects people beyond geography.

Goya has been a proud sponsor of the Antorcha Guadalupana for nine consecutive years, supporting a tradition that honors cultural identity while amplifying a message of dignity and compassion for migrant communities. This long-standing commitment reflects our belief that supporting culture also means standing with those whose journeys are marked by courage and resilience.

We are deeply grateful to Asociación Tepeyac de New York for the invitation and for warmly welcoming the girls from Casa Hogar Alegría IAP, who were able to take part in this historic day. Their presence added a powerful layer of meaning—connecting youth, tradition, and hope within a celebration rooted in faith and community.

At Goya Gives, initiatives like this reaffirm our commitment to uplifting communities through cultural heritage, solidarity, and action. As the Antorcha Guadalupana makes its way toward New York, it carries more than a flame—it carries stories, prayers, and a shared call for unity across borders.
